madison.com | archives: Unemployment Action Needs Strong Voice
" Rather than making unemployed people pay for health insurance or go without it, the government should pick up the tab or provide national health insurance. That goes for people's food, clothing and shelter as well. Once we demand that of our government, we'll see quick action on unemployment. But we all have to speak out loudly, not just today, but tomorrow and the next day and the day after that."
Hey!! I wanna be unemployed, if I can get the government to pick up my health insurance, food, clothing and shelter!!!! Why would anyone ever go to work if they could get somebody else to provide all of that for them?? 8-|

Went for my morning ride up the Hiawatha this morning on the Trek. I was zipping along, passing leisure riders right and left, head down and trying to keep my pedaling speed up. I had the XM on, and was rocking out to Deep Tracks 40--just having a great ride. I came to a driveway crossing and had to glance up to check for possible traffic crossing the trail. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a big old white Ford sedan, parked along the side of the road with a for sale sign propped on the hood.. The unconscious, reptilian portion of my brain kicked into gear... "Big white Ford. Cop. Oh $**t. Check speed." Wonder if my 14.7 mph was over the limit. L-)

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Ancient phallus unearthed in cave
A sculpted and polished phallus found in a German cave is among the earliest representations of male sexuality ever uncovered, researchers say. The 20cm-long, 3cm-wide stone object, which is dated to be about 28,000 years old, was buried in the famous Hohle Fels Cave near Ulm in the Swabian Jura. Its life size suggests it may well have been used as a sex aid by its Ice Age makers, scientists report. "In addition to being a symbolic representation of male genitalia, it was also at times used for knapping flints," explained Professor Nicholas Conard, from the department of Early Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology, at Tübingen University. "There are some areas where it has some very typical scars from that," he told the BBC News website.

Birthday Calculator
You were born on a Tuesday under the astrological sign Libra. As of 7/21/2005 12:07:56 AM CDT You are 1,413,590,876 seconds old. There are 75 days till your next birthday on which your cake will have 45 candles on it. Those 45 candles produce 45 BTU's, or 11,340 calories of heat (that's only 11.3400 food Calories!) . You can boil 5.14 US ounces of water with that many candles.
..'Specially if they are the kind that won't blow out!! <:-P

What the heartland can offer those on the coasts | csmonitor.com
For many of the 50 percent of Americans living on both coasts, the Midwest is flyover country, best seen, sophisticates think, from 39,000 feet. Airline passengers might look out the window briefly to survey the vast, fertile patchwork of green, gold, and brown below. But most are only too happy to go back to their magazines and inflight movies. And don't even mention the prospect of changing planes at O'Hare. Horrors. For those coastal residents, the cultural delineation is clear: Things cosmopolitan are In, while those with a country setting are Out. Or are they?
Is O'hare really considered "country" by the coasties?

Got this awhile back in email, and thought it was sorta cute...... :-)
Due to the popularity of the Survivor shows, Wisconsin is planning to do it's own, entitled "Survivor -Wisconsin Style." The contestants will start in Milwaukee, travel up to Sheboygan and on to Manitowoc and Green Bay. Then they will head over to Wausau and up to Rhinelander and Minoqua. From there they will proceed up to Ashland and Superior. Then back down through Rice Lake, Eau Claire and all the way down to Prarie DuChien and back over to Milwaukee. Each contestant will be driving a pink Volvo with Illinois license plates and a large bumper sticker that reads: "I'm gay. I'm a vegetarian. Bratwurst clogs your arteries. The Green Bay Packers suck. Go Bears! Cheese is high in cholesterol. Hillary in 2008. Deer hunting is murder and I'm here to confiscate your guns!" The first one that makes it back to Milwaukee alive wins.
