I have been presented with a set of tickets. A little celebration, I guess you'd say. Even though this is my "school band"; even though they've performed in the area dozens of times, even though one of the members lives only about thirty miles away from me... I have never seen America perform live. Sunday night, I finally get to do just that. The real kicker is that I'm scheduled to work a twelve-hour shift beginning 2:30 Monday morning-- I forsee a more-or-less useless Laurie that day. Photos may have to wait a day or so. This sure beats getting a dollar for every "A" in school!! Here they are, in performance with my *other* great Seventies musical love, doing one of my favorite songs:
"Only the Beginning"
But this is how I remember them from back in the olden days of the Seventies... I think I may have even seen this particular performance on the Midnight Special back then. I probably even clapped.
Sister Golden Hair
You just don't realize yet how lucky you truly are, do you? Well, sit right down and I'll tell you. :-D I just re-upped for another several years of domain registration. So YOU people can rest assured that you are in for at least another two years of the bleating and photography of a somewhat boring old bag from the frozen North. And what do we have to look forward to? A possible trip to the West Coast, if I can get my [expletive deleted] together. The big bike trip across Ontario and Quebec to Maine around Memorial Day-- keep your fingers crossed for an early spring and a good lobster harvest, folks. You also will be privy to more of my whining about schoolwork and world affairs. And maybe even some Britney-blogging!! You are the luckiest people I know, lol.
This is what early autumn in northern 'sconsin looked like from my saddle today.
Trust me, getting that shot wasn't as easy as it looks. Note the buggy windshield--it was spotlessly clean about a half hour before I took this. (And yes, I *was* poking along at 40, for a change.)
This is a little bit better look at the colors of the Flambeau River state forest. It was so pretty, and the newsy-types are saying that peak colors are still over a week away.
Well, Living in the south has its adventures. I'll bet MAD doesn't have this one on her "Things to do" list. My friend found that he had a uninvited Alligator in his fish pond and she was helping her self to his catfish. Animal control would not do anything because it was only believed to be about two feet long. Since he has a young boy who likes to fish, we figured it wise to relocate the Gator before it tried to relocate his son. So we decided that we had seen enough episodes of Crock Hunter and we could take this one by ourselves. After some coaxing we were able to capture the little beauty and restrain it. We relocated it into one of the local rivers where the fish occur naturally and were not bought and paid for like in my friends pond. Once released, she happily swam away and I think she winked at me as she submerged. :) Of course we could not miss the photo op. I've got to admit, there is one thing nice about fishing in Wisconsin. You don't have to worry about who is fishing for who! This one was about 4 feet, but I have seen them well over 8 feet and as big around as me.
I am getting a
little lot woozy, just looking at this photo. Just what somebody who's scared of heights needs to keep them awake at night....

I got this WONDERFUL email this evening!!
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN®) recently agreed to reduce their Registrar Transaction Fee from $.25 to $.22. What does this mean for you? Good news. You have been credited $.03/yr for each domain name you registered or renewed dating back to July 1, 2006* -- $.03 has been placed into your Go Daddy® account with this customer number: XXXXXXXX.I feel so.... blessed and rich. "Good news" indeed. And tomorrow I will have updated photos of the thing that nobody can figure out. It's looking pretty good so far! [/end tease]
sorta fini, lol. There are a couple more pics on the Flickr site, too.
What do y'all think of some art tile to cover those yucky black bricks on the hearth? I've been trying to figure out how to get them clean again, but my mother suggested I hire someone to put down new tile.
Heck with that-- *I* can do tile!!
Next project is trying to figure out how I'll come up with enough $$ for the gas fire--I'm not going to be able to look at that big blank spot in the middle there for very long.
And of course the floor is the next upcoming home improvement project. I already have my floor sander picked out. Look out, Tim Taylor!! :-))
I am soooooo boring, lol. Isn't it great to be boring again?
Okay, I think I'm done farting around with the templates again. Minor upgrades week!! Made some revisions to the "insides" of this site--purely out of my "can't leave well enough alone" inclinations. Things are up and running again, thankfully, with a cleaner, leaner look--but I still have room for the larger photos that I've always preferred. :-D Still have some playing with the wiki to do. Clean out your minds, this is the explanation of a wiki. And yes, I *am* avoiding "The Clash of Civilizations", as a matter of fact. How did you guess?
