This week August 7 through August 13 The Full Moon in your love and romance zone on Wednesday may bring even more feelings to the surface, and this may not help your current situation. Love and friendship could become extremely muddled at this time, and trying to choose what do next could be very hard going. When Mercury moves into Leo on Thursday, you may find talking about it all doesn’t exactly help. The Sun opposes Neptune on Friday, and this may completely alter your perception of what you thought was happening. Again, don’t believe what you see just yet, as things will probably look very different next week.
I just knew there was a full moon coming!! Well, while I ponder the constellations' effect on my love life, I think I'll take my knobby knees off to the orthopedist again. ANY excuse to drive the big red waterski!!! UPDATE: The verdict is in. I have a "cute" arthritis, lol. Personally, I don't find it all that attractive, but there you are. Arthritis, a nasty sprain, don't walk on concrete (?!?!), keep working out all I can stand, arthroscopic surgery maybe next month (but that may not help). Sigh. Aging is not for sissies. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to stay off concrete. :-))

Things may/will be a little quiet around here for awhile. Not that any of my three readers is going to miss me, but just in case you peek in and wonder where everyone went. I have some things going on here in the real world that need to be taken care of, so the obsession distraction hobby of blogging might have to take a backseat for awhile. I promise life will be normal one day.

Got this in my email from class early this evening.....
"Hi, If you are receiving this email, it is because if you take the B- option, you will receive an A in the class. I will be recording your final grade on the web site as an A. If you submit the examination, I will grade it on its merits—with the guaranteed B-."
A guaranteed "A"--all I have to do is either ask for a B- on my final exam, or turn in that exam essay and still get at least a B- on it, with an "A" for the class. This is tough. Crazy as it sounds, I wanna write the thing!!!! Somebody slap me, please. WHAT am I thinking?? :-)) UPDATE: Um. It just hit me. Do you know what this makes me? A "graduate". Well, an Associate of Arts and Sciences, anyway. I did it, didn't I? I really did it.

ABC News: Mel Gibson's Statement
"There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge."
Apparently, "sugar-tits" directed towards a female police officer should be tolerated, however. Nowhere in that statement did I read anything of an apology for his somewhat misogynist comment. To be expected, though.

Hair transplants? Speeding and drunk Driving? Mel, what's happening to you??? [UPDATE] Hmmm, looks like my main drool-ee since the 80's has *really* fallen flat on his face. Read this for an interesting view into what turns out to be another fat-headed too-rich Hollywood drunk who happens to look kinda cute in a kilt. Yeah, I realise it's a gossip rag and it's all publicity out there, but....still.
"F-----g Jews. The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," Mee's report quotes him as saying. "Are you a Jew?" Gibson asked the deputy, according to the report. The actor also berated the deputy, threatening, "You motherf----r. I'm going to f--- you," according to Mee's report. The actor also told the cop he "owns Malibu" and would spend all his money "to get even with me," Mee said in his report. TMZ quoted a law enforcement source as saying Gibson noticed a female sergeant on the scene and yelled at her, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar t--s?"

Rusty Yates: 'Case was built on lies'
Yates, an engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center, said he plans to visit his ex-wife regularly, but his role in her life will diminish as he moves on with his own. He remarried in March and now has two stepsons. "I don't forget my children, and I don't forget Andrea, but I don't dwell on it either. I try to remember my children fondly," he said. "I'm building new life ... and have a new family and am more focused on them."
Aww, isn't that precious?
Yates said he was nervous on Wednesday as he waited for the verdict. The family, which has always supported Andrea, was devastated when she was convicted at the first trial 2002, he said. Yates had testified for the defense in that first trial, and he said Thursday he didn't know why he wasn't asked to testify again. "In some respects," he said, "I know Andrea better than anybody."
I'm thinking that I can guess why. Some of us out here wonder how you, knowing your wife was mentally ill, seeing all these signs of a woman in, as the defense called it, severe post-partum psychosis; not worry just a teensy bit about making it worse by knocking her up again and again--and then making her--or letting her-- homeschool all 5 of them, as well? After reading about his testimony at the first trial, I wondered why *he* wasn't on trial, too! I normally don't agree with a whole lot on CommonDreams, but this article from back in 2002 still makes him sound...um....somewhat dense. Seeing as how he knows her "better than anybody", after all.
Rusty Yates claims he and Andrea jointly made decisions -- including Andrea giving birth to all five children without pain control measures; Andrea abandoning her nursing career to become a homemaker; Andrea home-schooling the children; the family moving from their four-bedroom house into a 38-foot trailer and an adjacent 350-square-foot motor home. Rusty has repeatedly shared his disgust with the medical system's handling of Andrea's case. He has asked how she could have been so ill while the medical community failed to diagnose her, treat her and protect the rest of the family from her. He plans to sue Andrea's last psychiatrist, Dr. Mohammad Saeed, who took Andrea off her medication three weeks before she killed her five children. Andrea's family, the Kennedys, claims Rusty was not attentive enough to Andrea's mental health needs. The Kennedy family has a history of mental illness that affects several members. Time magazine has reported that Andrea's brother and sister both suffer from depression, another brother has bipolar disorder, and the father who died after years of Alzheimer's may have had depression. This family demonstrates the genetic nature of mental illness.

I have decided that I am no longer even mildly flattered by plagiarism. In fact, I am downright pissed, to the point of steam coming out my ears this morning when I signed into class!! My first paragraph in discussion in class, turned in last night:
Malcolm X and his family were typical African-Americans in their experience of racism and poverty in early to mid- twentieth century America. Malcolm X’ first experiences of racism came about as a result of the work of his father, the Reverend Earl Little, on behalf of Marcus Garvey and the black separatist movement. X states that the reason his father believed in this movement was that he had seen “four of his six brothers die by violence, three of them killed by white men, one by lynching” (Malcolm X, pge 4) Lynchings were far too common in the years after World War 1, 78 lynchings recorded in 1919 alone. (Divine, 710)
and then we have my alter ego's first sentence for her discussion, turned in about 5 hours after mine.
Malcolm X and his family were typical African-Americans in their experience of racism and poverty in early to mid-twentieth century America.
Look familiar? Later, in her third paragraph we find this statement:
One of Malcolm X' first experiences of racism was because of his father, the Reverend Earl Little, on behalf of Marcus Garvey and the black separatist movement. Malcolm X states that the reason his father believed in this movement was that he had seen "four of his six brothers die by violence, three of them killed by white men, one by lynching" (Malcolm X, pg 4).
At least with her third paragraph, she changed a few words to make it not quite so obvious. She directly lifted a three sentence paragraph from another student's discussion answer, misspellings and all, but I won't post that here. Citations and permissions and all. You understand. How in the hell does this chick sleep at night? How does she justify paying $650 for a class only to turn in someone else' work? Why waste the time and money? I get nervous, wondering if there might be a plagiarism issue, when I simply read something somebody else has written and think "Hey, that makes sense to me! I'm going to explore that idea and maybe write about it as part of my answer." Phrases and comments tend to stick in my mind, and I have to work very hard to not use those phrases as my own. I can't even fathom copying and pasting and turning something in as my work--especially going to the work of changing a few words here and there.

Yep. We're "average". And damn proud of it! CNN.com - The most 'representative' state: Wisconsin - Jul 27, 2006
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Looking for a state that is a microcosm of the whole country? You won't find it in Iowa or New Hampshire -- there are 25 states that come closer to average statewide measures on important characteristics such as race and income. In fact, a politician looking for that mythical microcosm -- the most typical state in the country -- should look no further than Wisconsin. So, what makes Wisconsin so special -- or, to put it another way, what makes Wisconsin so average? It is about as close to the average state as you can get on most of the 12 measures included in this study.

Severed hand found in nude dancer's home
svered hand
Two people who knew Kay told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the hand, which Kay nicknamed "Freddy," was a gift from a medical student who frequented an all-nude juice bar where she dances. "She has a flair for the dramatic," Patricia Ann Kay said. "I have never tried to stop my children from doing whatever they want. As long as they are happy, aren't hurting anyone, and it's keeping them out of the poor house."
Judging by her mugshot, little Kay is not very happy right about now. What *I* wanna know though, is-- did the med student put the severed hand in her g-string while she was dancing?
