OK here it is. My new leash. It could be no less annoying if it actually had a shock collar attached. Now Uncle can reach out and touch me anywhere anytime he wants to. "At least until I am off the clock". It will probably take me 6 mos. to figure out all the junk it does. Wonder if it will accept MP3 files????? Guess I will have to breack down and read the manual.
Ananova - Gym to offer naked sessions
A gym in Holland is to offer naked fitness sessions for naturists on Sundays. The Dutch Naturist Federation says the fitness centre in Heteren will be the first in the country to cater for naturists. Gym owner Patrick De Man said: "People undress for taking a sauna, why not for exercising?" He came up with the idea after two naturists joined the gym and asked about nude sessions. Can you imagine the distraction possibilities? And I was shy about wearing anything less than full sweats for the longest time at the gym. Am I a typical midwesterner, or what?
And #2 daughter is loving the extra day on her weekend. They haven't announced the local school closed for tomorrow, even though every school around us has already announced. Hopefully, it will be warmer than this morning's -26. Ooooooh, that wind was brisk this morning. Quite brisk. My teeth may quit chattering by next week. Below-zero temps close schools - Yahoo News
A bone-chilling cold wave with temperatures as low as 42 below zero shut down schools for thousands of youngsters Monday, sent homeless people into shelters and put car batteries on the disabled list from the northern Plains across the Great Lakes. At least six deaths were linked to the cold weather. But then again, there's always at least one smart-aleck in the bunch, namely this guy!
"It's only 31 below," said Randy Hjelmstad, owner of Randy's Refuse in Grand Forks. "It's not that bad out."Ya gotta wonder if "Randy's Refuse" is a garbage service? A restaurant? A bar?
...that this guy might be coming to the Packers.... Please.
Oh....is there a football game today??
The official word is out. It appears that Van Halen will be reuniting with David Lee Roth for a 40 concert tour this summer. Is it possible? I have a hard time believing Diamond Dave will be able to "Jump" like he used to. This may be the Geriatric Van Halen but I have to admit that I am tempted to look into tickets. I'd like to see the pre Van Haggar band. Not that I have anything against Sammy because I like the "Red Rocker". There's just something about that Rythmic VH Heavy metal combined with the shreeking rough throaty voice of David Lee Roth that really rips. I hope they spend a couple months in the Gym before they start or they'll never survive it. Ironically, Michael Anthony will not be along for the tour. Eddies' 15 year old son Wolfgang will be providing the Bass action instead.
"American leaders have taken their values so much for granted that they rarely recognize how revolutionary and unsettling the values can appear to others. No other society has asserted that the principles of ethical conduct apply to international conduct in the same way that they do to the individual--a notion that is the exact opposite of Richelieu's raison d'etat. America has maintained that the prevention of war is as much a legal as a diplomatic challenge, especially the use of force. A Bismarck or a Disraeli would have ridiculed the proposition that foreign policy is about method rather than substance, if indeed he had understood it. No nation has ever imposed the moral demands on itself that America has. And no country has so tormented itself over the gap between its moral values, which are by definition absolute, and the imperfection inherent in the concrete situations to which they must be applied."
Venezuelan lawmakers give Chavez sweeping powers - CNN.com "Democracy in Action"
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- A congress wholly loyal to President Hugo Chavez approved a law Wednesday granting him authority to enact sweeping measures by decree. The law also allows Chavez to dictate unspecified measures to transform state institutions; reform banking, tax, insurance and financial regulations; decide on security and defense matters such as gun regulations and military organization; and "adapt" legislation to ensure "the equal distribution of wealth" as part of a new "social and economic model.""Adapt" legislation? I think if I were Venezuelan, I would be somewhat concerned about that phrase!! And there's that "equal distribution of wealth" thing again. Maybe it's just me....Maybe it's just my own recent and ongoing experiences with seeing my own "wealth" distributed "equally" that makes me think this is not the best idea since cordless mice.
Vice President Jorge Rodriguez ridiculed the idea that the law is an abuse of power and argued democracy is flourishing. "What kind of a dictatorship is this?" Rodriguez asked the crowd, saying the law "only serves to sow democracy and peace." "Dictatorship is what there used to be," Rodriguez said. "We want to impose the dictatorship of a true democracy."Ah, what a highfalutin' phrase-- the "dictatorship of a true democracy". Beyond the fact that that is one of the stupidest things I've ever read, leaving me just speechless.... Anyway, I did wonder what Chavez' best friend Cindy thinks about these sweeping new powers. Maybe she'd like to see some of those powers vested in our President?? We could have a "true democracy", after all!
