The Next Best Thing to Being President
With John Edwards's decision to quit the race, expected to be announced officially today, John Kerry's nomination as the Democratic candidate for president is secure. Speculation about his choice for vice president can now begin in earnest. Mr. Edwards himself is an obvious choice: a skilled campaigner, he would also attract Southern voters. Other possibilities include Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana and Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, who have both regional appeal and executive experience, and dark-horse candidates like former Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia. Amid this conjecture, however, one name is conspicuously absent: Bill Clinton.
Ah, the running mate speculation begins...but what would THIS ticket be called? "JFK2 & JFK3"?

Yahoo! News - Police bust up nearly nude protest
"Before their arrest, the activists chanted "Love in, Fur out" as they frolicked on a mattress outside the Ivy League school. A large crowd, including several blue-collar workers, watched the protest with broad smiles across their faces. "We thought we'd seen it all, but this is a first," said Scott Nelson, an electrician on his lunch break."

maybe...although I've learned to not trust these late February early March thaws. It's not quite shirtsleeves weather, even for us tough 'ole Wisconsin types. The backyard is a quagmire of melting ice and lose-your-boots mud, although the snowbanks are still six feet tall. There is that new, fresh smell to the air--mixed with the odors of last years' rotting vegetation and wandering, lovestruck skunks.

....almost time to get the bike out!!!

In the New Economics: Fast-Food Factories? "Is cooking a hamburger patty and inserting the meat, lettuce and ketchup inside a bun a manufacturing job, like assembling automobiles? That question is posed in the new Economic Report of the President, a thick annual compendium of observations and statistics on the health of the United States economy." Oops, my bad...I didn't think the manufacturing jjobs lost over the last few years would ever come back. I guess I should have known better.
