JS Online: A North Woods angel with a white Cadillac

Chuck asked how bad the truck was damaged. It's not drivable, came the reply.

"He said right there, 'Do you want to borrow my car?' I looked at him and said, 'You're kidding, right?' " Kermit said. "This all happened within two minutes of meeting him."

Kermit explained that he was heading for the Twin Cities. That's OK, Chuck said. And he would be gone three days. Still OK, Chuck said.

Astounded as he was, Kermit accepted. He called Lori and told her to turn around and head home. "I just met the greatest good Samaritan in the world."

This story sounds very much like what happened to my youngest brother one year, as he drove to Wisconsin from West Point for Christmas. His car broke down, and a complete stranger loaned him a truck to get the rest of the way here to see my folks. None of us could believe it, but it happened. There are angels out there, we just don't always see them.

Political Compass While farting around on the computer this am, I surfed into a site I've seen before. I've taken this little test in the past, and decided to take it again, just to see if the score is even remotely the same as previous scores. I used to sit out there somewhere around Ghandi, if I remember right. Yeah, yeah, I know. This is what my "political compass" looks like these days....and my score? Economic Left/Right: 0.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.38 How boring. I'm so close to center I don't even think I could have a good argument with MYSELF.

The Religious Policeman
..the Presidency of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Riyadh has been more active in preventing shops catering to these non-Islamic occasions. It has been more and more difficult in finding Christmas decorations and cakes in the past two years, said Down Tucker, a South African teacher. This year they are hardly found. The Presidency of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Riyadh declined from commenting, but store managers have confirmed that they have been visited weeks before Christmas and were told to remove their Christmas Holiday merchandises. We are also expecting a visit on Dec. 25 too as they annually do, said a supermarket manager who wished to remain anonymous. Everywhere else in the world, you expect a visit from Santa on December 25th. In Saudi Arabia, it's a visit from the Muttawa. We sure know how to party.
And here we are in the US---arguing about whether it's okay to say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays". We take a lot of things for granted, don't we?

Packers Suffer Worst Loss in 25 Years - Yahoo! News
It was the low point of an awful season for the Packers (3-11), who absorbed their most lopsided loss since a 61-7 defeat at Chicago in 1980.

Intensive coffee consumption accompanies intensive panic and intensive writing..... I don't remember this being so rough 25 years ago. Maybe that's why I didn't finish, ya think?
