The Mighty Middle
It's a slow news day, so let's pass the time blowing up political cliches. One from the Left, one from the Right.

You scored as New Democrat. New Democrats emphasize fiscal conservatism, and have a strong preference for the free market. They believe in small-scale programs that provide targetted help to those in need, while working with the business community.

...the first steps to #16 on the 100 things list have been taken. I did it…..I am now (again?) a college kid. Admitted, registered, class picked and first half all paid for, books bought ( and man, do I appreciate Amazon.com!!! a $90 textbook for $14.99!!), pencils sharpened and a new notebook. Exactly 25 years after I flamed out the first time. I must be nuts. UW may not be completely aware of what they’re in for!!! doll

Mojave Phone Booth The TRUE story of a trip into the desert.......and finding yourself on the journey and all that jazz...
The Booth. Located deep in the heart of the Mojave Desert, 75 miles southwest of Vegas, 15 miles from the nearest highway, stuck out in the middle of nowhere like an afterthought’s afterthought. What was it doing here? More importantly, what were we doing here? Well, we were here to fix it. We’d just gotten up early on a Sunday, left our wives and daughters behind to fend for themselves, and spent five hours driving 240 miles to see this phone booth just because it had been busy when we’d called it. We’d come to hang it up so we could go back home and call it and hear it ring. And the damned thing wasn’t off the hook after all. It was out of order. Damn. What do you do when you’re stumped in the middle of the desert? Take a leak. That’s one of the pleasures of being men. No matter how bad a situation is, no matter how miserably you’ve failed, no matter how powerless you feel, you can always whip it out and pee standing up. If you’ve got enough saved up you can even write your name. So we wrote our names in the desert and took some solace in that.

Washington Prism Wow....this man puts into words so much of what I've been thinking for the last couple of years. Why haven't I ever heard of him before? But geez, somebody get the guy a comb. Please?

Ya know, I used to love this song. It was one of those songs that you didn't mind having as an "earworm". But this.....I don't know if I will ever be able to listen to it again now. The most agonizing thing you'll ever hear Keep an eye out at the beginning of the clip--Elton John WITH HAIR.

My Way News
Oil prices zoomed higher Wednesday, touching a new high of $65 a barrel, with buyers focused on refinery snags and shrinking U.S. inventories of gasoline. The latest rally - crude futures have risen 14 percent in three weeks - highlights just how nervous the market has become to just about any threat to output, even though analysts say the country has adequate levels of fuel in inventory to offset routine supply disruptions. The heightened sensitivity comes amid strong demand in the United States and China, the world's top consuming nations, where high prices have only tempered rising fuel consumption slightly.
