Published a couple days ago, but I'm outta the loop anyway. Still worth reading. And I'm leaning towards Poli 175. ;-) Who Are Americans to Think That Freedom Is Theirs to Spread? - New York Times
Other democratic leaders may suspect Bush is right, but that doesn't mean they are joining his crusade. Never have there been more democracies. Never has America been more alone in spreading democracy's promise.

Got this awhile back in email, and thought it was sorta cute...... :-)
Due to the popularity of the Survivor shows, Wisconsin is planning to do it's own, entitled "Survivor -Wisconsin Style." The contestants will start in Milwaukee, travel up to Sheboygan and on to Manitowoc and Green Bay. Then they will head over to Wausau and up to Rhinelander and Minoqua. From there they will proceed up to Ashland and Superior. Then back down through Rice Lake, Eau Claire and all the way down to Prarie DuChien and back over to Milwaukee. Each contestant will be driving a pink Volvo with Illinois license plates and a large bumper sticker that reads: "I'm gay. I'm a vegetarian. Bratwurst clogs your arteries. The Green Bay Packers suck. Go Bears! Cheese is high in cholesterol. Hillary in 2008. Deer hunting is murder and I'm here to confiscate your guns!" The first one that makes it back to Milwaukee alive wins.

Fireworks Likely When NASA Blows Up Comet - Yahoo! News
Scientists hope the July 4 collision will gouge a crater in the comet's surface large enough to reveal its pristine core and perhaps yield cosmic clues to the origin of the solar system. NASA's fleet of space-based observatories — including the Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra telescopes — along with an army of ground-based telescopes around the world are expected to record the impact and resulting crater. The big question is: What kind of fireworks can sky-gazers expect to see from Earth? Scientists do not know yet. But if the probe hits the bull's-eye, the impact could temporarily light up the comet as much as 40 times brighter than normal, possibly making it visible to the naked eye in parts of the Western Hemisphere.
I canNOT wait for this--wouldn't this be cool to watch at night???

Paul Winchell, Voice of Tigger, Dies at 82 - Yahoo! News
Over six decades, Winchell was a master ventriloquist — bringing dummies Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff to life on television — and an inventor who held 30 patents, including one for an early artificial heart he built in 1963. But he was perhaps best known for his work as the voice of the lovable tiger in animated versions of A.A. Milne's "Winnie the Pooh" — with his trademark "T-I-double grrrr-R."
Tigger was ALWAYS my favorite.......

...and took my camera along in hopes of seeing the baby turtles coming out of their nests along the trail. Didn't see them and didn't see the bald eagle today for some reason, but took a few other pics. These are all along the Hiawatha Trail which runs north of town along an old abandoned rail bed. The ride is getting to be almost too easy the past few days-- I guess I'm putting on enough miles now that a little six-miler is barely enough to break a sweat. (TEN miles, on the other hand.......) :-)) So, now I'm getting the energy to look around.......anything to get out of the house in the morning while it's still cool.
