..but then, I always knew that.....I am, however, trying to figure out why they think I earn $50.00 per hour. Must be that they figure I work a normal schedule, instead of my screwy swing shift.

I swear, I think this is the best laugh I've had in a LONG time..... lgf: Voting a la Francaise
The French are voting on the European Union Constitution, and polls suggest it has a good chance of being rejected. Young Katia Volman chose a very French way to avoid feeling any regrets over her vote: Katia Volman, a 22-year-old student, was among them, but she cast a blank ballot, saying the issues were too complicated to fully digest. “I had so many reasons to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ so I left it blank, and that way I won’t regret my decision two days later,” she said. This, of course, is exactly how Europe ended up being ruled by a closed group of unelected elites.

This week May 30 through June 5 Libra There is plenty of emphasis on faraway places, and on the search for experiences you have never had. Mercury and the Sun in Gemini are encouraging you to drink in anything new and intriguing. Monday looks like it could be fun as the Sun trines Jupiter in your sign, making this a great day for meetings and travel. On Tuesday you won't want to follow your usual routine and will be much happier doing it all differently. Express the real you and be absolutely yourself, and you will feel much better.

WHEN 'EVERY WORD IS JUST RIGHT,' WRITING TOUCHES THE SOUL - Yahoo! News
There's no grand lesson in today's column, no little truth struggling to break into your morning, just the sense of sadness that comes with the death of a writer whose words have been forgotten -- forgotten, except of course, like whatever scrap of paper you have stuffed in a blotter, or tucked in a drawer, or slid onto a shelf, or placed in a file to be read late at night when the kids are asleep and when the memories move with a slow canter, by those who read them.

US Undermines Rights, Guantanamo Like 'gulag' - Amnesty - New York Times
"``The USA as the unrivaled political, military and economic hyper-power sets the tone for governmental behavior worldwide,'' Secretary General Irene Khan said in the foreword to Amnesty International's 2005 annual report. ``When the most powerful country in the world thumbs its nose at the rule of law and human rights, it grants a license to others to commit abuse with impunity,'' she added. The report cited the pictures last year of abuse of detainees at Iraq's U.S.-run Abu Ghraib prison, which it said were never adequately investigated, and the detention without trial of ``enemy combatants'' at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. ``The detention facility at Guantanamo Bay has become the gulag of our times, entrenching the practice of arbitrary and indefinite detention in violation of international law,'' Khan said."
Let's see...I've read estimates of 28-30 million people passing through the REAL gulags, and up to 25% died there. Seems we have a way to go, I think. Later update: Long essay on the difference between a gulag and a git is here: the difference
