Carson
"The day the music died was February 3, 1959, when Buddy Holly's plane crashed outside of Clear Lake, Iowa. The day television died was May 22, 1992, when Johnny Carson hustled out of a Burbank studio, leaving tear-soaked cheeks, 30 years of memories and a void that could never be filled."
How well I remember hearing my parents laughing in the living room, and wondering what on TV could possibly be so hilarious....

A Marine charged with desertion in Iraq after mysteriously disappearing from his post has again been declared a deserter - this time for failing to report to his U.S. base. Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun, who claimed he was abducted by anti-coalition forces in Iraq, was declared a deserter Wednesday, a day after not returning for duty at Camp Lejeune. "We don't know where he is," said Maj. Matt Morgan, a spokesman for the Camp Lejeune-based 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade. "The military is actively looking for him."
Somebody needs to put some velcro on this guy, ya think?

TAMPA, Fla. - One last victory for David Greene, the winningest quarterback in NCAA (news - web sites) history. No. 8 Georgia closed the Greene era with a 24-21 win over No. 16 Wisconsin in Saturday's Outback Bowl. Greene threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in his last game for the Bulldogs (10-2), continuing his assault on the Southeastern Conference record book and adding victory No. 42 to his NCAA mark.
