Conservatives are scaredy-cats!!

Considering that I've been known to just about come unglued at loud noises, I guess we can see where I fall on the "Liberal/Conservative" scale....
We present evidence that variations in political attitudes correlate with physiological traits. In a group of 46 adult participants with strong political beliefs, individuals with measurably lower physical sensitivities to sudden noises and threatening visual images were more likely to support foreign aid, liberal immigration policies, pacifism, and gun control, whereas individuals displaying measurably higher physiological reactions to those same stimuli were more likely to favor defense spending, capital punishment, patriotism, and the Iraq War.

Well, like any study, its findings should be tempered by the fact that the professors who participated are human and have their own agendas regardless of the fact that they are supposed to be impartial. I guess I am just a natural skeptic. OBTW I have worked around loud noises & gun fire for a long time. I suddenly realize why I favor defense spending, capital punishment, patriotism, and the Iraq War. LOL
Not sure I quite agree with *all* of your rant, dear brother, lol.

I just thought it was sort of a silly study, personally. I find it hard to believe that simply being jumpy/nervous about loud noises correlates to your viewpoint on the Iraq war.
Unless, of course, you're a combat vet.
Ok, let me see if I can spin this. Why do we fear? Fear is defined as a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc. So, this tells us that fear is a natural reaction to something that is harmful to us. So apparently, the conservative reaction to fear, is to be patriotic and stand up and defend ones country i.e. blow up the source of what wants to harm us. That sounds like true Americans! Whereas, liberals who are not (Scaredy Cats) tend to be gun control advocates and pacifists who would rather be diplomatic. That sounds like the French!
