On watching Gustav reports

Am I the only one who wonders why these idiotic media-types stand outside in the pouring rain, hail, and hurricane-force winds to deliver their reports? It doesn't make me think they are courageous. It just makes me wonder why they don't have sense enough to get in out of the rain.

Not your certainly not the only one. I think they just like to think they are saving us by being out there on the front line to protect us from the big bad storm. Truth is if people would just exercise some common sense when a hurricane comes along, these disasters would be much less of a disaster. I've been in a few, and the ones who usually get killed are the ones who won't heed warnings or take precautions. Or they are the loons who are out there trying to surf the day of the storm. As for the reporters, hey, its the weather. How exciting can it be? I guess you have to fluff it up in order to get people interested in it.
