Dems push 'uncommitted' option
Party leaders want Obama and Edwards backers to take a stand on the primary ballot. LANSING -- Top Michigan Democrats made another plea Wednesday to coax supporters of presidential candidates Barack Obama and John Edwards to vote "uncommitted" in Tuesday's Michigan primary, rather than staying home or crossing over to vote in the Republican contest. Obama, Edwards, and Bill Richardson yanked their names off the ballot here, leaving New York Sen. Hillary Clinton as the only leading contender for Democratic voters. If "uncommitted" draws at least 15 percent of the vote in a congressional district, delegates not bound to any candidate could be sent to the national convention, possibly enabling Obama and Edwards supporters to play a role in the nomination. "You can't afford not to vote in Michigan," Levin said. "It's critically important to vote to have impact on the delegates going to (the national party convention)."
Personally, I've often wanted to vote for "none of the above" myself, but it's never on the ballot. My old bud Kos, the reason I will not vote Dem, has a different idea. Just screw with 'em. Have some fun. Daily Kos: State of the Nation
Let's have some fun in Michigan by kos Thu Jan 10, 2008 at 01:31:01 PM PST With a history of meddling in our primaries, why don't we try and return the favor. Next Tuesday, January 15th, Michigan will hold its primary. Michigan Democrats should vote for Mitt Romney, because if Mitt wins, Democrats win. How so? If we can help push Mitt over the line, not only do we help keep their field fragmented, but we also pollute Romney's victory. How "legitimate" will the Mittster's victory look if liberals provide the margin of victory? Think of the hilarity that will ensue. We'll simply be adding fuel to their civil war, never a bad thing from our vantage point. Michigan is Romney’s last stand. He has pulled all advertising from other states for a last-ditch effort there. It’s sink or swim time for Romney, and we’re going to throw him a lifesaver. So why are we doing this? Because we can. Because it'll be fun.
