A (fast)walk in the park

Published on November 30 2006

Last day of November, with winter coming on fast--proof was the slightly below zero windchills this afternoon. Trust me, my three-miler went a little more quickly than usual today, even with stopping to take a few pictures. Click to make 'em bigger: { gallery [parkpics] }

[...] I went for my usual daily 3 1/2 mile walk through the same area as in the pictures below. It looks a little different today, however, because we are under “blizzard conditions” this afternoon, snowing heavily and getting very cold. Here comes the Alberta Clipper, lol! [...]

Yep, all Bradley Park--they've been logging a bit up there, so you wouldn't recognize a couple of the areas, like Army-Navy hill. Remember sledding there when we were little? If you look close on the last couple of pics of Mirror Pond you will see a horrible shiny scum forming on the water. I think it's called "ice".

I had completely forgotten about that plane crash until you mentioned it!! See what you have to look forward to when you get as "young" as me?? Can't eat, can't sleep, can't remember plane crashes--or your name. Aging is not for sissies.

These must be of Bradley Park. I recognize almost all of those shots. Hey, remember back in the mid 70's when you and I were in the park walking on the old trail to the point and a small airplane ran into the cable suspended across the river and fell into the water? I remember you and I yelling out to them on the water and asking if they were alright. They were lucky not to get killed by either the crash or the power in the cable. I bet they never reported the incident. I think it fell in the Stupidest things I have ever done category. Strange
